Blooming Desert & Gothic Butte -San Rafael Swell, Utah

I kept returning to this location in the San Rafael Swell hoping to find better conditions; primarily some proper clouds that would fill the otherwise blank blue sky and provide some scale to this severely eroded sandstone mound. On this morning my hopes were realized and to my pleasant surprise the ground was bursting with fresh blossoms of sweet smelling desert primrose. One never knows what mother nature might provide...THIS is my reward.
